Sunday November 16, 2014

Hello, I hope that you are well and keeping warm as the weather gets colder. This is my favorite season of the year, what are you enjoying this fall?

On Sunday I will conclude our series "Waiting with Purpose." As we conclude we are going to discuss trusting God. The thing is - our whole lives are waiting periods, waiting on what comes next...because when that things comes, we'll be waiting on something new. The point is, how can we trust God in the midst of life's waiting times?

I'd love to see you Sunday!

Sunday November 9, 2014

Greetings! Our IOU groups are coming to a close for this session. We have been studying this book:

It is a biblical small group study on spending the time in wait with purpose. As we wait for our new building or for other things in our lives, ministry needs to still be happening, we need to still be growing!

This Sunday I will preach about becoming who/what God wants us to become. In the midst of our wait, God is working on us and we can choose who we want to become. Join us as we grow together!

I am praying for you!

Hello! I hope you are enjoying your week!

Our IOU groups are in full swing. IOU means Inward, Outward and Upward and refers to the type of growth we need to do as disciples of Christ. We need to work internally on ourselves, we need to focus outward on those around us, and we need to focus upward on God. We have three groups for you to join: Sunday, Tuesday and Friday.

Sunday September 7, 2014

Greetings! Here we are in September already, my how this year has flown by! I am excited for all things fall; at the church we are preparing to start IOU groups, have a youth group kick-off party for this new year and looking forward to meeting with Myler to hear about our building!

This week, I am continuing the "Vision" series. After we've dealt with what, why, when, where, who...we are going to finish with how? How do we implement the vision? There are three areas I will be focusing on, to implement the vision we need to be totally committed to: prayer, serving and giving. This week we will look closely at prayer.

I hope that you can join us and stay afterwards for an important community meeting!

Blessings~

Sunday May 4, 2014

Hello! I hope this finds you well on this rainy spring day. April showers bring May flowers, something to look forward to!

We are in a series following our small group book study.  On Sunday we will be concluding our conversation on Chasing Daylight. We are only given so much time, so we are called to make the most of every moment...every opportunity. Our lives are supposed to make a difference, are we taking hold of that call?

I am praying for each one of you!

Sunday April 6, 2014

Hello! I hope that this finds you well as we enter April and the month of Easter!

We are in a series following our small group book study. On Sunday we will be continuing our discussion that comes from Chasing Daylight. Human beings are only given so much time, so we are called to make the most of every moment...every opportunity.  The book is focused on the life of Jonathan - a man of God who stepped out in faith.

On Sunday I will be preach about risk. Not many people are risk takers in general, for some of us it's just not in our nature. So what does it mean to risk for God? How did Jonathan risk? What does this mean for us? Come on Sunday and find out!

You are loved!

Sunday March 30, 2014

Hello! I hope this finds you well!

This Sunday we will be continuing our conversation from Chasing Daylight - our IOU group study book. We are only given so much time, so we are called to make the most of every moment...every opportunity.  It is focused on the life of Jonathan - a man of God who stepped out in faith.

On Sunday Pastor Brian Smith is going to take a look with you at influence. The idea of the chapter is that we can (and should) use our influence for good and Godly things.  Your touch in someone's life may be far more reaching than you know! We have great opportunities in life to influence people for God.

This weekend on Saturday and Sunday the Elder's and I will be at a strategic planning weekend.  This is a terribly important time for the leaders as well as the church at large. We need your help to make this weekend successful: please be in prayer for us as we pray, work on team building, and vision for the future of Harvest Point Church.

Blessings,
Pastor Shannon

Sunday March 23, 2014

Greetings! We finally are having some spring weather - rain and warmth!

We are in a series following our small group book study.  On Sunday we will be continuing our conversation from Chasing Daylight. We are only given so much time, so we are called to make the most of every moment...every opportunity.  It is focused on the life of Jonathan - a man of God who stepped out in faith.

This Sunday we are going to take a look at uncertainty.  We are all uncertain at times - especially about what God wants from us or where God wants us to go.  How do we find the right path? We are going to look at Exodus 3-4 and the story of Moses.  Moses was uncertain that God could use him, have you ever felt that way? Uncertainty is not a good thing in making the most of our moments.  Come as we discuss it!

Know that you are loved!

Sunday March 9, 2014

Greetings! I hope that you are well on this brisk March day.  My goodness, will the cold never cease!?

On Sunday we will be continuing our conversation from Chasing Daylight - our IOU group study book. We are only given so much time, so we are called to make the most of every moment...every opportunity.  It is focused on the life of Jonathan - a man of God who stepped out in faith.

This Sunday we are going to take a look at our choices. Every choice you make is an opportunity for good. I am going to be preaching on the life of Rahab, the prostitute, from Joshua 2. Can our choices change our life? Come and find out!

I am praying for each one of you!

Sunday March 2, 2014

Greetings! I hope that this finds you well.  As I sit and look out at the snow coming once again I am trying to see the glory of what God creates.  Even though it's been a winter that seems to go on forever, I know that spring and new life is coming eventually. God is faithful!

This week we have started our IOU (small) groups.  You are still welcome to join if you would like! I will begin preaching this week along with our series. Don't worry, the messages are still relevant even if you aren't part of a group! This week I will preach about Jonathan and Saul from 1 Samuel 14:1-23. How does being connected with God affect our actions and our potential? God directs our steps when we are connected to him! Join us for worship!

Blessings~

Sunday February 23, 2014

Greetings!

We have heard this past month about how God is making all things new.  What this means practically is that our lives will change (for the better)! The Church of God holds to two ideals that come from a life that is changed, two foundations which we live by: Holiness and Unity.  On Sunday I preached on Holiness from 2 Corinthians 6:14-7:1.  This Sunday I will preach on Unity.  What does it mean to work together for the cause of Christ? What does being new have to do with our connection with others?

Our IOU groups (Inward, Outward and Upward focused small groups) start up again this week. Sunday the 23rd, Tuesday the 25th and Friday the 28th.  Are you part of a group?

I am praying for you!

Sunday March 10, 2013

We are now well into Focus 40 - a time where we are fasting and praying and really focusing in on God's Extreme Love for us.

Today we talked about our love for God. In response to how God has loved us - how do we love back? Well this coming Sunday we are going to talk about our love for others. In response to God's love for us and our love for God - how is that great love is to be shared with those around us?

Our Focus 40 emphasis is Matthew 22 which tells us in verse 39: The second [commandment] is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ How are we doing at loving our neighbor? Who is our neighbor?

Praying for each one of you~

Sunday March 3, 2013

Hello! This week we enter into March! Wow, how time flies...this month we celebrate Easter.  In this time of Focus 40 - spend time reflecting on God's amazing love for us...that God would send Jesus to die for us! That's amazing...extreme love!

During Focus 40 we are spending time studying that amazing love.  Yesterday we talked about God's love for us.  This coming Sunday we are going to think about our love for God.  In response to how God has loved us - how do we love back?

Our Focus 40 emphasis is Matthew 22 which tells us in verse 37-38: Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your mind.  This is the greatest and first commandment. How are you doing loving God with all your heart, soul and mind?

I look forward to seeing you Sunday!

Sunday February 24, 2013

Hello! I hope that you had a wonderful holiday weekend, if you got the day off!  Tomorrow we enter our time of Focus 40.  This is a time when we gather with the Church of God at large to really focus in on the things of God.  It is a special time of prayer and fasting that can help us to renew and refresh our relationship with God.

This year the focus is on God's Extreme Love with a scripture focus of Matthew 22:34-40.  Spend some time contemplating what that scripture means in your life...and whether you live that way or not.

On Feb. 24th the emphasis is on God's love for us.  Read 1 John 4:9-10 and John 3:16-17 in preparation for Sunday's worship.

I am praying for each one of you and hope that you have a wonderful week!
