Sunday December 14, 2014

Greetings! I hope you are finding joy in this holiday season.

On Sunday I will continue our Advent series: "Rejoice." As Christians we have so much reason for joy. So many blessings just being part of God's family. This Sunday I am preaching from Isaiah 9:2-7.  The people in darkness have seen a great light. How can those even in the most terrible of situations find reason for joy this holiday season? Is there joy for them?

How can you find joy in the midst of your circumstances? Come and find out!

Sunday September 21, 2014

Hello! This week we officially enter "fall." What a blessing to be able to experience the changing seasons.

We are in the midst of a vision series, talking about how to move forward as God is leading. We are dealing with the "how" question. How do we implement this vision? With the Acts 2 church as our example we look at how to move forward within the vision God has laid out for Harvest Point Church. Implementing the vision takes total commitment in three areas: prayer, service and giving. This week we will focus on giving. Where and how can you give to enable the vision? Join us as we worship together.

This week we also have the privilege of dedicating a child to God - pray with us as we dedicate Milo New.

Blessings for your week~

* Resurrection appearances (Matthew 28:9-20; Mark 16:9-18; Luke 24:13-53; John 20:19 - 21:25)

Prayer: Pray for understanding of seeing Christ risen from the grave. Give thanks to God for such an amazing act of power. Allow yourself to be amazed at what God has done.

Sunday April 6, 2014

Hello! I hope that this finds you well as we enter April and the month of Easter!

We are in a series following our small group book study. On Sunday we will be continuing our discussion that comes from Chasing Daylight. Human beings are only given so much time, so we are called to make the most of every moment...every opportunity.  The book is focused on the life of Jonathan - a man of God who stepped out in faith.

On Sunday I will be preach about risk. Not many people are risk takers in general, for some of us it's just not in our nature. So what does it mean to risk for God? How did Jonathan risk? What does this mean for us? Come on Sunday and find out!

You are loved!

Sunday March 30, 2014

Hello! I hope this finds you well!

This Sunday we will be continuing our conversation from Chasing Daylight - our IOU group study book. We are only given so much time, so we are called to make the most of every moment...every opportunity.  It is focused on the life of Jonathan - a man of God who stepped out in faith.

On Sunday Pastor Brian Smith is going to take a look with you at influence. The idea of the chapter is that we can (and should) use our influence for good and Godly things.  Your touch in someone's life may be far more reaching than you know! We have great opportunities in life to influence people for God.

This weekend on Saturday and Sunday the Elder's and I will be at a strategic planning weekend.  This is a terribly important time for the leaders as well as the church at large. We need your help to make this weekend successful: please be in prayer for us as we pray, work on team building, and vision for the future of Harvest Point Church.

Blessings,
Pastor Shannon

Sunday March 23, 2014

Greetings! We finally are having some spring weather - rain and warmth!

We are in a series following our small group book study.  On Sunday we will be continuing our conversation from Chasing Daylight. We are only given so much time, so we are called to make the most of every moment...every opportunity.  It is focused on the life of Jonathan - a man of God who stepped out in faith.

This Sunday we are going to take a look at uncertainty.  We are all uncertain at times - especially about what God wants from us or where God wants us to go.  How do we find the right path? We are going to look at Exodus 3-4 and the story of Moses.  Moses was uncertain that God could use him, have you ever felt that way? Uncertainty is not a good thing in making the most of our moments.  Come as we discuss it!

Know that you are loved!

This Sunday we are going to take a look at our choices. Every choice you make is an opportunity for good. I am going to be preaching on the life of Rahab, the prostitute, from Joshua 2. Can our choices change our life? Come and find out!

I am praying for each one of you!

Sunday March 2, 2014

Greetings! I hope that this finds you well.  As I sit and look out at the snow coming once again I am trying to see the glory of what God creates.  Even though it's been a winter that seems to go on forever, I know that spring and new life is coming eventually. God is faithful!

This week we have started our IOU (small) groups.  You are still welcome to join if you would like! I will begin preaching this week along with our series. Don't worry, the messages are still relevant even if you aren't part of a group! This week I will preach about Jonathan and Saul from 1 Samuel 14:1-23. How does being connected with God affect our actions and our potential? God directs our steps when we are connected to him! Join us for worship!

Blessings~

Sunday February 23, 2014

Greetings!

We have heard this past month about how God is making all things new.  What this means practically is that our lives will change (for the better)! The Church of God holds to two ideals that come from a life that is changed, two foundations which we live by: Holiness and Unity.  On Sunday I preached on Holiness from 2 Corinthians 6:14-7:1.  This Sunday I will preach on Unity.  What does it mean to work together for the cause of Christ? What does being new have to do with our connection with others?

Our IOU groups (Inward, Outward and Upward focused small groups) start up again this week. Sunday the 23rd, Tuesday the 25th and Friday the 28th.  Are you part of a group?

I am praying for you!

Sunday February 9, 2014

Hello! This past weekend I went away from what I had originally planned to preach and shared about SHAPE, a Church of God program.  SHAPE stands for Sustaining Health and Pastoral Excellence.  It is a program that connects pastors together for the purpose of creating pastoral health.  A healthy pastor can lead a healthy church.  If you'd like to check out the sermon, which is not just for pastors but for everyone, go to our website: Harvest Point Church

This week I will preach on a New Heaven and New Earth from Revelation 21:1-8. I'd love to see you Sunday for worship!

Hi! It's cold and snowy but today I am thankful for the space heater that lives under my desk! I hope that you are finding a way to stay warm.

On Sunday I preached about becoming a New Creation...this week I will preach about the New Covenant - when Jesus was in the upper room with the disciples he spoke of the New Covenant, but what is it? What does it mean? Come Sunday as I preach about the New Covenant in Jesus' blood. Read 1 Corinthians 11:23-34 in preparation.  We will also take the Lord's Supper together.

Remember THIS Wednesday at 7pm is our Annual Meeting,  please come!

Sunday January 19, 2014

Hello! I hope that all is well and that you are enjoying this break in the snow and cold!

On Sunday we heard from Brian Smith about how God makes all things new.  This Sunday I am going to start a series on Sacrifices.  What are the things that we have to sacrifice to God? What does sacrifice mean? We are going to start by talking about "self." Read 2 Corinthians 5: 11-21.  We must sacrifice our old self to God to become a new creation.  Why must we do this? Why would we do this? Come Sunday as we discuss it!

I am praying for each one of you,
Pastor Shannon
